Domenico Caradonna

Prof. Domenico Caradonna was born in Palermo on April 26, 1939 and there resides in Piazza F.sco Crispi 9.

He graduated in Palermo in 1964 and was named voluntary assistant in an Odontoiatric Clinic in Messina and then in Palermo. In 1968 he was named Ordinary Assistant.

In 1965, winner of a grant , he develops experimental studies in Istituto di Patologia Generale (General Institute of Pathology) in Naples on the tumor's development in salivary glands in rats.

In 1969 specializes in anaesthesiology and becomes Professor in Dentistry.

In 1982 he became an Associate professor, and in 1987 an Ordinary Professor in Orthodontic.

In 1989 he instituted the Orthodontic Specialization School of which he is currently the director.

He is the author of the "Tavole sinottiche di Terapia endodontica".

He has been director of the Palermo Odontostomatology Institute from 1991 to1995.

Since 1990 he has been interested in Posturology and in 1997 organised the 1 st World Posture Congress.

Between 1997 and 2003 he has organised post-graduate courses in posture which have been attended by more than 500 Italian, French and Spanish students.

In 2003 he organised a post-graduate course in dental occlusion and posture as kinesiology.

He has lectured on craniomandible physiopathology and posture in various foreign companies congress in Mexico, France and Spain .

In 2000 and 2001 he was sent to Montpellier for a post-graduate course in osteopathy of the atm by the Montpellier College of Osteopathy.

In 2002 lectured at the Congresso de médicina de Deporte, in Mallorca (Spain).

In 2003 coordinated the 1 st level Masters degree in Osteopathy, together with the USL of Trapani.

In 2004 chairman of university consortium of the Valle Belice.


Occlusion and posture in evolution age

The involvement of the occlusion within the ambit of postural control has been the subject of a large number of studies over the last ten years and still arouses considerable interest not only among odontologists but also in the world of medicine as a whole.

In this paper, the Authors examine the correlation between the stomatognatic system and postural control in evolution age.

After describing the postural system, the Autrors illustrate the different methods for examinations that can used to analyse body posture and the occlusion in orthodontic patients.
